Heat drives students from classrooms early in Pa., N.J. (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

With temperatures expected to hit the high 90s this afternoon, schools in Philadelphia and Camden sent students home early, as did many schools in the suburbs. The exceptions were a few schools in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey with air conditioning.

Iowa West Foundation gives $1.7 million for SAMs mangers (Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil)

When Iowa West Foundation officials on May 30 announced a $1.7 million gift to the Council Bluffs Community School District for local education initiatives, they earmarked $420,000 each year for the next three years to pay for seven school administration managers, or SAMs.
