The suspects, a 13-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, are being booked into Whatcom County juvenile detention center on suspicion of first-degree reckless burning, second-degree burglary and trespassing.

The fire department initially thought the fire at Delft Square was accidental. But a young boy soon began bragging to friends about what had really happened -- he and a friend had gone to smoke marijuana and began lighting papers on fire.
